Laurel Robuck Barr, born and raised in Cleveland, is a dedicated individual whose life and career are deeply interwoven with her passion for music and commitment to Judaism. Educated at Cleveland Heights High School, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Cleveland Institute of Music, Laurel’s academic and musical journey has shaped her into an accomplished cantor, educator, and community member. Her multifaceted experiences, combined with her strong connection to her Jewish heritage, have guided her in making significant contributions to her local community and beyond. She served as full-time cantor for Temple Emanuel for over a dozen years after having spent nearly 20 years teaching music, theater, tutoring b’nai mitzvah, confirmation and school worship at The Temple-Tifereth Israel here and in University Circle. In her current role, she takes great joy in leading school worship services, teaching music and Hebrew for the Learning Center, Ganon Gil preschool, and directing Saturday afternoon’s family Shabbaton program.
