Our mission is to improve the lives of others by engaging our Temple Community through volunteer actions while developing enduring personal connections.
We invite you to get involved in our various Social Justice Projects and Initiatives. For more general information please contact Faith Schaffer, chair of our Social Action Committee.
Signatures Requested for Letters in Support of Israel
We can stay diligent by writing to our local representatives to thank them for their support of Israel and by urging them to influence those in power. Rabbi Dadoun has drafted congregational letters to State Representative Shontel Brown, Senator Sherrod Brown, and Senator J.D. Vance. Click here to read those letters in full and add your name to our signatures.
NCJW/CLE’s Operation Warm Up are joining The Temple in a community wide initiative to collect warm winter gear to be distributed for individuals who are homeless or in need. With 10 collection sites throughout the community, the ask is simple: please donate NEW hats, scarves, gloves/ mittens, underwear-briefs, boxers, undershirts (especially in L, XL, 2X, 3X +). This year, slippers, shower shoes and belts of varying sizes are also needed. Look for the donation box to place your gifts of support and provide warmth to those in crisis.
Giving Night of Hanukkah
Share the warmth and light of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah by supporting local immigrants, refugees, and newcomers settling in our community.
Join fellow Temple members as we kick off a third year of giving gift cards from either Walmart or Target to benefit our friends at Natividad Pagan International Newcomers Academy (INA), formally known as Thomas Jefferson Academy.
INA is a K-12 public school on the near west side of Cleveland that welcomes immigrants, refugees, and newcomers from Afghanistan to Zambia and in-between! INA teachers and support staff are doing amazing work to prepare students for today and tomorrow. Your generosity in providing donations (see link below) or gift cards will enable INA staff to step in when needed to help with food and/or medicine insecurity. This assistance has also proven to be a critical way to help alleviate stress on students and their families.
Please visit bit.ly/givingnight to make a monetary donation by December 31, which will be used to purchase gift cards. You may also mail gift cards to The Temple, Attention: Faith Schaffer.
