The Temple-Tifereth Israel is committed to being a place of belonging for all our members. Post B’nai Mitzvah teens are welcomed into our teen programming.
We offer many program opportunities for worship, leadership, friendship, and scholarship. Continuing our teens on their Jewish Journey with many ways to grow, we create our teen programs with many different types of outcomes.
Our teens, along with our Teen Rabbi, Rabbi Yael Dadoun, have many opportunities to connect to their Judaism in spiritual ways. From leading or participating in services, Teen Havdalah nights, and Holiday programming, our teens are able to worship together as a community.
Teen Choir: Our teen choir, led by Cantor Kathy Sebo meets throughout the year and performs in various worship services.
Madrichim (Hebrew for guide) serve as role models for our younger learners, assist our teachers, and are an essential part of The Learning Center. To be eligible for the Madrichim program you must attend Chai Learning or Kallah with consistent attendance.
We offer programming monthly directed toward 7-8 graders and 9-12 graders. These programs are arranged with the purpose of creating opportunities for connection. We want our teens to feel completely accepted, and know that they matter. We also have opportunities with other teens in neighboring temple communities. We want our teens to see how vital they are in the world of Judaism.
Chai Learning: Our 7-12 graders meet weekly on Monday evenings to learn about Judaism, through Social Justice, Ethics, Torah, Jewish texts, and History. Completing the year with elective courses designed to engage our learners in more creative projects, like cooking, art, music, theater, and much more.
Kallah Learning: Kallah is a hands-on, retreat style experience for learners in grades 8-12. Each lesson is a mix of learning, reflection, volunteerism, and teamwork. Sessions include: field trips, guest speakers, art projects, as well as text study. We meet six times throughout the year for four hour sessions.
